MICHÈLE

This project is about my (twin) sister and her mental 'disorders'.

On September 6, 2021, she was admitted to a psychiatric facility after sounding the alarm due to suicidal tendencies. She needed help that we as a family could not give. A difficult period faced each person of our family, not seeing her as often, many arguments and more silences. How were we suppose to deal with this and what was happening in my sister's world? This work visualizes the process of me and Michèle during her 8 long months in admission.

The book is divided into two chapters; Noir, this title refers to her "Black Dog". According to psychologists, depression is like a dog that walks beside you. On hard days this 'dog' can hang over you, and on better days it just walks beside you. It is never really gone. By giving that 'dog' a name, we can gain more control over it.

The second chapter is called 'I want to live', this is what my sister told me at the end of her treatment. She wanted to make sure that I knew that she wanted to be here and wanted to stay.
